  • Some Photography Work

    Jumping Ben

    I’ve recently acquired a new camera – Nikon D800 – and have been testing out Zenfolio for photo hosting.

    Photos are being posted at http://photos.psyton.com

    Zenfolio has a referral program – enter code SU5-QDW-94U and you’ll save 10% on your subscription.

  • Yikes!

    Wow, sort of left this in the dust. It’s been a while since any updates. Been busy, etc.

    Really should work on fixing that.

  • ElectricRoute

    ElectricRoute is a startup I have co-founded which is dedicated to bringing real-time intelligence to the electrical substation.  A lot of the smart grid efforts have focused on metering (AMI/AMR), but there are critical areas of the electrical distribution and transmission network which are in dire need of advanced capabilities.

    We were also awarded one of five $100,000 Innovation Awards as part of the GE ecomagination challenge!  The press release is here.  It’s quite an honor – more than 3800 submissions were entered.

  • Is This Thing On?

    It’s been a while since I’ve updated this site; lots of reasons, ranging from a lack of time to ennui.  I’ll take another crack at this site again.

    The 30 second summary:

    • Left my employer, Ambient Corporation, after almost six years; it was a nice run – a personal record, in fact – but it was time for a change;
    • Hooked up with some people to launch a smart grid startup focusing on substation automation, for which we have been pursuing venture capital funding;
    • Continued to evaluate other employment opportunities;
    • Had a lot of fun with my family; continued to be involved in Little League and other activities.

    More to follow.

  • Nap time is almost over..

    After an all-too-brief period of relaxing and catching my breath, it’s time to figure out what’s next.

    Some postings didn’t survive the server changeover. More accurately, the server expired, but perhaps someday I’ll get around to pulling data from backups.

  • Rust

    Not abandoned, just busy with life.

    Random stuff on twitter – avoiding “I had chili for lunch” messages – but should dust this thing off..

  • Back from the void

    Well, hadn’t planned on idle time, but it sort of worked out that way.

    To be fair, the Cybex has dust on it as well.

  • Getting Things Done and the GTD RoadMap

    Attended David Allen’s GTD | The RoadMap seminar this past Friday.

    I’ve been intrigued by the GTD concept for quite a while, but hadn’t really launched the effort (it was on my list of things to do). I thought attending a seminar where the concepts are not only presented – after all, they’re in his book – but additionally examples are demonstrated and the appropriate context is explained would be helpful.

    David Allen is an excellent presenter; amongst other things, his comment about the “charger drawer” hit home (“8.6V? Might need this someday.” Call it what it is – the “Junk” drawer). The seminar was extremely well-attended, with quite a few people I met were repeat attendees. David had an interesting comment – echoed by almost everyone I spoke to – that it takes several tries to “get it” regarding GTD.

    Another memorable quote: “Crap self generates but it doesn’t self-destruct.”

    I’d already taken a step in the right direction by managing to reach “Inbox Zero” on my office email. Not surprisingly, it feels like quite an accomplishment. Next up is the same for my home email.

    I’ve also adopted OmniFocus to manage my deliverables, and am experimenting with Mind Mapping using Mindjet’s MindManager software for work on a new project.

    The worth of all of this will be to see how successful I am in implementing them. The first steps certainly seem promising.

  • Entre nous

    Been toying with this concept for a while, and figured now was a good as time as any.

    After all, why not?
